Russl Howard will perform at Drill Hall

Russell Howard, the best comics week only known, will perform at the Drill Hall on June 2.

Russell Howard is currently a new series of Good News film, this gig sold under two hours.

Howard, trying out new materials will be from its Right Here Right Now tour before they hit the big places.

Mr Almey who has booked the likes of Rhod Gilbert and Sarah Millican for Lincoln, said: "Russell used to play at the university a lot and he built up a good audience here before anyone else really.

"A lot of the bigger acts don't ask to come here but he asked to come this time and for him it's great for trying out new material.

"Lincoln is getting better and better – it's just a case of building up the audiences."

Marketing manager Gavin Street at the Drill Hall said that Howard performed at the venue before he hit the big time.

He said: "We have had people like Jason Manford and Jack Dee here and along with Russell, they love the Lincoln audiences.

"Lincoln audiences are good natured but they don't let you get away with it either.

"It will be the first time a lot of material has been heard and it's a work in progress.

"Russell is a really laid back chap and he's got lots of female followers coming here so he should enjoy himself."

Channel 4's gabby ManAlan Carr, his Sexy Beast on tour with the LPAC is visible, and then, tickets sell fast.

Craig Morrow, Artistic Director at the University of Lincoln venue, said: "Comedians are attracted to Lincoln because although we don't have larger venues, we do have some intimate venues, and when they are looking to do warm up gigs or try out material, the size of the Drill Hall and the LPAC is just right.

"They will have started at smaller venues and a lot of artists really miss that and a lot are keen to go back to smaller venues and Lincoln is well placed with that.

"I'm always keen for there to be new venues because I think if you have a range of venues you can bring in a range of acts. If there was going to be a larger venue in Lincoln I would say yes, that's great."

Linda, 51, said: "Russell was absolutely brilliant with Lee and they got on like a house on fire.

"They had the same sense of humour and Russell said what a cracking lad he was.
