Mum Linda, of Longdale Close, Denton, said: "It started when Lee went to watch Russell at the Apollo.

He really enjoyed the show and said it would be great if he could have a pint with him so I emailed Russell’s agency and he replied to say he would be delighted.

We arranged for him to come and visit Lee on his birthday as a surprise and when he turned up at the pub Lee couldn’t believe it.

I was over the moon because he was so poorly at the time and it gave him the boost he needed.

It was his last birthday and Russell made it extra special for him."

Former Audenshaw School student died last April, and Russell on June 25 to sign up future 2 Castlefield perfect on the field by the end are true to his word.

Russell said: "I met Lee last year and had a brilliant day with him.

"When Linda asked if I would be part of Future Perfect 2 I immediately said yes. I only met Lee and his mum briefly but they had a massive impact upon me.

"He’s one of the most inspirational people I’ve ever met so to do a gig in memory of him is an honour and a privilege."

Linda, 51, said: "Russell was absolutely brilliant with Lee and they got on like a house on fire.

"They had the same sense of humour and Russell said what a cracking lad he was.

"I can’t thank Russell enough for giving up his time to do this.

"I feel so privileged but really it’s a credit to Lee and the person he was."
